About Fiddlehead Cottage
A project of Holly Shimizu and Carole Ottesen, Fiddlehead Cottage opened for a few select dates in summer 2017, offering vintage and one-of-a-kind garden finds and furnishings – wacky garden hats, vintage jewelry, garden furniture, botanical trays, natural products, dry flowers and wreaths, potted plants, air plants, water plants and more. Fiddlehead Cottage hosts occasional workshops on herbs and horticulture. Located at the Lewes, DE home of Holly and Osamu Shimizu, at 427 Kings Highway, Lewes DE 19958 (see map).
Holly Shimizu Co-Owner
Holly H. Shimizu is a nationally recognized horticulturist, consultant, and educator who has been making plants and gardens more accessible and exciting to both professionals and amateurs for over four decades. Holly consults public gardens and helps individuals envision and create peaceful and sustainable gardens. She also lectures and writes on a variety of horticultural topics and leads gardens tours. Holly is currently the Interim Executive Director of the American Horticultural Society.
Carole Ottesen Co-Owner
Carole Ottesen, who gardens in Maryland, Delaware, and Cape Breton, is a writer, artist, and photographer. Her garden books include The New American Garden, Gardening with Style (with Graham Rose and Peter King), Ornamental Grasses: The Amber Wave, The Native Plant Primer, The Herbal Epicure: Growing and Cooking Plants that Heal and the Guide to Smithsonian Gardens. Recently she turned to crime, penning two mysteries Dying for the Christmas Rose and Murder House.
